Occupation of the American Embassy in Tehran Iran 1979.

Occupation of the American Embassy in Tehran Iran 1979.
The occupation of the US Embassy was an incident that affected not only the individuals being held hostage, but the future Iranian economy. On November 4th of 1979, about 300-400 Iranian revolutionary students began a demonstration in front of **The American Embassy**. All who witnessed this incident, thought at first, that it was going to be an "ordinary" demonstration; they were so familiar with this scenario being that they had just undergone the Iranian revolution. However, things started to go out of control. This was not just a protest. The participants were chanting anti-American phrases, such as "Death to America." They happened to be supporters of Ayatollah Komeini, the newly installed and followed Iranian leader. Not soon after, the participants climb over the walls, break the chains and locks, and overthrow the embassy. These revolutionaries had originally held sixty-six American Diplomats, but released numerous prisoners, leaving about 60 Americans to reside in the embassy, hostage for a total of 444 days. This action was not ironically supported by the governmen and many common people, whom had disliked the previous leader, The Shah, for his reliance on America for advice and power. Due to this occupation, the ties between these two nations were severed; this event led to the weakening of the presidency of Jimmy Carter, and led to sanctionc being imposed on the area. Though many attempts were made to release the long suffering Americans, all failed, leading the United States to implement a different approach to the conflict. The United States created an agreement known as the Algiers Accords, which resulted with the releasing of the remaining hostages. Other changes were made because of the agreement as well. This is practically another reason why Jimmy Carter, who was the thirty-ninth president of the United States and was the president at the time did not get elected for the second term. Though he was able to find a solution to the crisis, people felt that it took him too long to fix the ordeal, thus he left office. The events were considered an embarrassment to the United States, as it lasted from November 4, 1979 until January 20, 1981 for the last of the prisoners to be released. The United States had so many relationships with Iran , though Britain and the U.S. have admitted something new an operation that was called “Operation Ajax” it was to overthrow Moussadeq and try to return the Shah back to where he belongs Iran . But the United States were not successful, the Shah which was to reclaim something that belong to him had to flee to Italy which he had to remain there for a little bit of time. The United States wanted to do another operation which worked really great the Shah had returned from his exile, after the Shah was gaining control little by little he began to rule as an absolute monarch. “During his reign, the Shah received significant American support, frequently making state visits to the White house and earning praise from numerous American Presidents.”
